Hey, we're in space!

Wow, I thought the moon would be a little bigger than that. 1/6 the size of earth? Or maybe I should say I thought the US was a little smaller than that.

The Moon's average distance from the earth is about 239,000 miles, whereas the Sun is 400 times as far away. It would take an airplane traveling 150 miles an hour somewhat more than two months to reach the Moon."

hah hah. they put all kinds of great illustrations and diagrams in these 1928 encyclopedias, i tell ya! that's why i never look at them in-depth... i'm afraid that my head will explode from it all.
