I would wait until after I planned to be in bed to be productive.

MomoKai, birthday giftlet for spurious; prompt: Frankenstein | 437 words | PG | Prince of Tennis

This may not have been exactly what you were hoping for, but I hope that you like it! Happy belated birthday! :)))

The movie night was all Oishi-senpai's idea - which explained a lot, actually. Their fukubuchou had some strange ideas about boosting team morale, and he looked absolutely enraptured, dashing between the kitchen and living room of his house, balancing bowls of popcorn, making sure that everyone had enough cushions and occasionally pausing to detach his doubles partner from his back ("You shouldn't have picked Frankenstein if you knew it would be scary, Eiji!").

Kaidoh personally thought that he could do without this sort of team building, squashed on the small brown sofa between Momoshiro and Tezuka-buchou. Momoshiro was being louder and more obnoxious than usual, pausing occasionally to leap from his perch and yell in Kikumaru-senpai's ear during the scariest moments of the movie, spraying half-eaten popcorn in the acrobatic player's hair. Kikumaru, meanwhile, would use any excuse to scream and latch onto an unsuspecting Oishi (they had already lost two bowls of popcorn that way). Tezuka-buchou had actually fallen asleep during the first half of this movie (the third of the evening), amazingly enough, with his eyes still half-open. Kaidoh could only tell by the calm, slow rise-and-fall of his chest, the faint hiss of breath in soft snores out of the corner of his mouth. He had decided not to draw any attention to it. Kikumaru was bound to notice in his own time and Tezuka-buchou deserved rest without being tormented with a game of "let's-see-how-many-straws-can-fit-up-Buchou's-nose-before-he-wakes-up-hoi hoi!".

"Oy, mamushi," Momoshiro commented, leaning against Kaidoh's shoulder. The material of his stupid blue t-shirt was soft and cool against Kaidoh's bare bicep. "You haven't eaten any popcorn."

"Don't like it," Kaidoh grunted. Popcorn was greasy and messy and he hated the way that it smelled. Momoshiro grabbed it out of the bowl in heaping handfuls and munched on it like he would an apple. It was kind of disgusting.

"Ah, well, more for me, then," Momo grinned. He shifted closer to Kaidoh, who was torn between staying right where he was (closer to Momoshiro than good sense or his internal warning system was comfortable with) or shifting away (bringing him into Dangerously Close Bodily Contact with Tezuka-buchou). He settled for folding his arms across his chest and attempting to draw further into himself.

"Scared, mamushi?" Momo's breath was hot against his cheek. "You're all coiled up."

Kaidoh jumped and immediately stilled as Tezuka let out a soft, sleepy snort next to him.

"Of course not," he hissed back. "It's just a stupid movie, moron."

Momoshiro grinned, letting his hand brush Kaidoh's knee on it's way to the popcorn bowl. "Who said I was talking about the movie?"
