"Hey, kid," The guard leaned against the entrance, shining a flashlight towards Shittaka, "We're closing soon, huh?"
Shittaka nods numbly, but he can't bring himself to leave yet. It's soothing here, with the water tracing shadowy swirled reflections on the floor and the quiet movement of fish behind him, above him, surrounding him.
He hadn't really meant it like that, and he felt cold and guilty. Nobuta's expression had stung, hurt and angry, sad, maybe a little defiant.
He had lost her, if she had even liked him at all anyways.
