Dear Ohmiya,

Please don't stop trying to explode Shanghai with your gay.

Because karmade has been turning out the most gorgeous, sweet, wonderful Koichi/Naruse fanart, I couldn't help but feel a little inspired:

when all the clouds darken up the skyway
Naruse Ryou/Ariake Koichi | Maou/Ryuusei no Kizuna crossover | PG | ~600 words

One of the cheap plastic bags was stretched nearly to the point of breaking and Koichi was still at least ten minutes from the shop.

He debated tucking it under one arm to support the bottom, but that would probably be an unwise maneuver in the middle of the crowded sidewalk. What kind of idiot clerk stuck all of the heavy glass jars in one bag?

A cold drop of water on the tip of his nose caused him to lookup in panic - catching an eyeful of the same.

"Shit," Koichi muttered, tightening his grip on the handful of plastic bags. The sky had been perfectly clear when he had left the shop to go the market. If he didn't hurry back, he'd have a load of soggy vegetables and if he did, there was no guarantee that the bags would survive the trip. "Shit, shit, shit."

The raindrops began to patter down furiously, suddenly and Koichi gathered the bags close to his body, trying to shield them while he looked around for an awning to duck under for awhile.

Suddenly, the rain stopped - or no, that's not right, there were still fat drops splashing into the sidewalk all around him, painting the concrete a darker shade of gray. But Koichi couldn’t feel the rain anymore, just the residue still dripping off his arms and the ends of his hair.

Naruse's smile was gentle, his tufty hair bone-dry as he held his umbrella low above both their heads. "Hello again."

"Naruse-san!" Koichi blinked, used the back of his hand carrying the lighter bag of vegetables to brush his wet bangs out of his eyes. He realized how close they are under the umbrella, how he was practically leaning into the curve of Naruse’s body and his cheeks flushed. "Thank you. What -?"

"I was just going to your shop to get some dinner," Naruse said lightly. "My offices are in that block." He points across the street. He surveyed Koichi. "Did you forget your umbrella?"

Koichi sighed. "Yes." He could hear the rain pounding more heavily against the ground now, small puddles forming near his feet where the sidewalk sloped down at the curb a little.

"Come with me, then." Naruse reached for one of Koichi's bags, shifting his hold on the umbrella to his other hand. "My car is parked nearby. I'll give you a ride."

Koichi flinched involuntary at the slide of Naruse's elegant, cold fingers against his hand. "Um," he said, heart beating stupidly fast. "Yes, that would be - thank you," he added belatedly. "I'd like that."

Naruse's smile was warm, but it sent shivers through Koichi - although that might have just been his wet clothes.

"You're shaking," Naruse observed, touching the clammy skin of Koichi's wrist absentmindedly. "Why don't I take you back to my place first? Do you have to be back right away? You could dry off, change your clothes, have a shower..."

Koichi took a deep breath, trying not to think about how very, very much he liked that idea. "I really need to get back to the shop," he said, managing to keep his voice even.

Naruse pulled his hand back. "Another time then, perhaps." There was a hint of suggestion in his voice, so subtle that Koichi wondered if he was just imagining it.

Naruse's car was dark and neat and tidy, stylish and compact with smooth, pale leather upholstery. Koichi sat down gingerly, afraid to get anything wet.

"Do you like Over the Rainbow?" Naruse asked, sliding a CD into his sound system.
