As one of my co-workers pointed out, we elect people who are good at getting elected, not necessarily at doing their jobs, especially for high-profile jobs like the presidency.

I know I complain a lot about politics, but this is the first year I've considered getting involved in at least the primaries. I have finally begun to understand a bit about how the process works, and I don't like that the primaries produce the most extreme candidates in most cases, because I like moderates who might at least compromise on SOMETHING instead of song-and-dancing around everything.

One problem is that it seems to take a LOT of time to get really involved to the point you can make a difference, and a lot of people (well, me, anyway) don't have a lot of spare time to get involved in this stuff. I recognize that really that means I have less grounds to complain, 'cause I haven't been as involved as I could be.

Um...am I rambling yet?
