An Update on the House Hunt

After reviewing the seller's disclosure, and looking again at the narrow stairways both upstairs and into the basement (no separate entrance down there), I decided to cancel my bid for the house. I did so just before I would have had to pony-up the earnest money, so I'm not out anything

You may want to hold off for 3-6 months. Apparently the housing bust is starting in Seattle, and that's going to have ripple effects.

Yeah, I see the trend coming. However, it looks like the Portland area housing prices will not actually drop much, if at all. They'll just flatten or be reduced to single digit increases. And I so very much want my own house now...!!!
