your kitchen table is now the home of several dozen tadpoles and various caterpillars/cocoons in different stages of a development, and there are 30 chicks in a brooder in your basement. Or you just might be crazy. :-)

P.S. I promise only 5 of the chicks are for us. The rest go out to the farm. Does that make me less crazy?

I see nothing wrong with it at all. One year I had tadpoles in my classroom, stolen from the barn's water jump. My 1st graders were fascinated by them, and I heard them actually USING their biology vocabulary while talking about them.
Currently, we're a feline maternity ward, and this year's batch of kittens are sleeping in the barn.
