Wonderful and the bit about Rachel is unforgettable.

Wow, this short pair of scenes packs quite a punch. I like the way you've mixed canon (House destroying Cuddy's dining room) and what, I suppose, is widespread fannish wishful thinking (it was an hallucination). And the dialog among Wilson and the fellows is just spot-on perfect.

Oh! And I totally forgot my favorite line in this, or just about any other fanfic:

There was a silent sigh of solidarity between the men at that moment. Relief that, thank goodness, a woman could take most of the blame. It was the natural order of things, after all.

Those are very generous comments, thank you. I had trouble trying to patch these bits together, hence my comment in the title. I'm glad you enjoyed my little dig at the male of the species!

I really, really liked this. Where else could House be?
Realistic and IC - of course much more so than canon and unfortunately probably of S8.

He just had to be in the basement, didn't he! I'm impatient to find out how series 8 begins; it seems such a long way off. Thank you for commenting :)

I'm mulling over this. Your final scene, I find much more sad than anything you wrote before, House trapped in his own accepted jail.I can feel in your writing how fragile his refuge is, and that it won't last. Or he could stay here indefinitely, since he doesn't have anyone left outside. Get I still like him, despite everything. I can see him there, and you did a good job of not giving away too much of his feelings. A little pirate talk, and we know. I'm sad for House and Rachel. I was loving the akwardness.

And I smiled at your reference for woman taking the blame. Sadly true to the show. They turned awfully mysoginistic lately (not that they were'nt before, but it has been really worse).

You have read so much into this, vicpei, more I think than it deserves but I did intend it to be open , at the end, to sadness. I hope it's ambiguous enough for different interpretations. Thank you, as always for reading and commenting.

The show's apparent misogyny is something I'm reading about at the moment.

Well, that is what fanfiction is for, right? Take a story and let your mind wander around? At least for me. Your fics give me fuel for that.
If you have good refs about misogyny on House, I'll be happy to read them, too. This was not present in the beginning of the serie and is bothering me, now.

I've just started to read a book of essays on House and Jung, believe it or not, which has a piece on Cuddy. I'll get back to you when I've read and digested it!

This is not only exquisitely written, it's the most plausible scenario I can think of to open season 8. Thank you so much for sharing it.

Thank you for your kind comment. Like everyone else, I'm wondering how on earth they're going to 'un' paint themselves out of this corner.
