After his flight back to New York, he stopped by the hospital to keep an eye on his mother. And was surprised to find the police in her room. What the hell is this? She already talked to them

Matt blinks, "-Mr. Petrelli?"

Of course. Of course. The very idea that their paths would cross here wasn't so far-fetched.

"Coerced or not, they believe her. I know she's innocent."

He throws him a knowing look.

He nodded, "Yeah." Of course their paths would have to cross over here too, especially now they're in the same city.

He placed his hands on his hips, and glanced back at that, "You do? You got something?"

"No -- yes, sorry."

Matt rubs at his eyes," Look, your mother thinks she's protecting somebody by shutting down this investigation. But I'm not gonna let it happen. I'm not backing down. I've got a little girl at home that wakes up in the middle of the night screaming about nightmares, and drawing a symbol that-"

He takes out a symbol. A double Helix-something about it makes him cringe. The photo it's on is inconsequential.

"... The same symbol that's on these photos."

Nathan took the picture, and stared at the symbol in red.

"I know that symbol," he quietly said.

A while later after Angela's arrest, Nathan lead Matt back to Peter's apartment. He had grabbed some photos to start flipping through them.

He found a box, and brought it over. Sitting down to rummage through it.

"Photo's gotta be in here somewhere. It's a group shot. Maybe ten, twelve people," he explained.

Matt glances through a few photos. He's never felt badly about doing things like this-

He almost wishes he did.

Picnic, trip to some lake somewhere- "What kind of a group is it?"

Nathan had a different pang as he flipped through the familiar pictures. Peter's graduation... when he lost his last baby tooth... where are you, Pete?

"It was a party or a meeting. My parents are in it. Kaito Nakamura."

"You know Nakamura?"

There's a photograph of a group of kids that Matt sets quickly aside. He has no business seeing that.
