He's chosen a higher perch tonight. It's one that will allow him to see the city lights. Sounds from the street traffic below are warped and muted by the time they reach his ears. This is where he comes to think, with all of Gotham at his feet ( Read more... )

Gang bangers. Hadn't faced them in quite some time, and I had hoped for a quiet night.

What I wouldn't give to be back in San Francisco...

I enjoyed riding in the Redbird, or using the vehicle I had called the R-Cycle, but there was just something to be said for swinging in the air, free as...the first robin of spring.

Please! Like I was actually gonna use that jaybird crack...!

Hearing the girl's scream from my position on a different roof, I made my way toward the direction of her scream. Allowing the line to grow taut about 5-7 seconds after release, I soared through the night sky for about another 30 seconds before landing; I broke into a run once my feet hit pavement, and after I'd turned my drop into a roll.

Upon arriving at the alley, I allowed a faint grin to cross my face. He had already arrived and was not only kicking ass, but taking names...and, it looked like he could use some help, if that unmistakable CRACK! I heard was any indication ( ... )

Gas pellets. Reinforcements had arrived. He stilled, waited the half second for his vision to adjust and watched as the remained street crawlers fumbled through the fog. A presence materializes at his side. Red. Black. Robin.

"Someone called for a garbage unit?

There are three remaining when the smoke clears. The one caught unawares by Robin's first punch takes one look up at the duo, scrambles back, and bolts.

"Go," he orders. The meaning is clear. Take the one on the run.

"On it." I replied, breaking into a run after the fleeing gang member. Quickly pulling out a Batarang, I timed it carefully, threw it and watched as it hit the back of the guy's head, sending him flying to the ground.

"You have the right to remain unconscious." I announced while cuffing the grumbling gang member and hearing the sirens in the distance. "Anything you say can and will be completely ignored by a court of law. You have the right to an attorney-at least, until he decides you aren't worth his time and leaves you rotting in Blackgate for about 3-5 years, but you might get out early for good behavior."

That said, I made my way back to the alley, and back to help out Batman.

First rule of attack. Take out the biggest threat. Knuckles on the left goes down first. The larger they are, the harder they fall. An upper cut snaps his head back. He never recovers. The impact with the ground would rattle teeth. The second ones eyes go wide. The chance to run is lost. A sweep catches his legs and he hangs in mid-air before landing flat on his back. A kick to the jaw and he's out cold.

Robin is rejoining him in the alleyway. The sirens are fast approaching.

"The girl?"
