Father and Son

Never has he imagined his life so full of grace. Crystal clear are his blessings as he sits in silence. Christine is in bed resting not ten feet away. The drapes are drawn to protect their privacy. In his arm as he lounges in the leather chair is a baby of three days old. It's not the most natural of positions for Bruce. He's forcing the ( Read more... )

Knew for a fact that, out of everyone in this mansion, he deserved some private time alone. Still couldn't entirely believe that another Wayne had graced this world with his presence. The reporters had literally had a field day with this:

WAYNE BECOMES FATHER

That had only been on the front page of the Gotham Gazette, the Daily Planet, the New York Times, the San Francisco Chronicle and various other newspapers. Even Time magazine had a column about it-though, not in a good light whatsoever.

A Kodak moment, as Conner would've put it: Bruce Wayne, with his son in his arms. Conner had once said to me that at times, it felt like we weren't going to see our next birthdays. I would do my best, as I was sure Bruce would, to ensure Alex had many birthdays.

There is movement from the bed and a soft groan of objection as Christine stirs from her rest. She is not in any ill spirits, but certainly felt (and probably looked) worse for wear.

"He won't be Batman..." She had a chance to protect this child from such a life as her other Boys had to live.

It was all that needed to be said on that matter.

"Hello, Tim..." Her voice is warm, filled with sleep that she is shrugging off. She, after all, is never too tire to visit her family.
