Haha, I'm not really that pro at playing and singing at the same time, but yes, I imagine it's rather easier with a piano than with a flute :P

Piano! I took lessons for a bit and now whenever I go home I try to learn pop songs (and usually fail, gah).

Agree on the laptop, definitely. XD

Good choice with Phillip Pullman! Bwahahahaha I was being a bit evil with that question because I don't think I can answer it myself!

Lol, I have a book full of pop songs, but they're usually harder to play or they sound totally fail on the piano.

Lol, in one of the English papers I took this year we got asked what our favourite narrative of all time was - nothing could be harder to answer than that lol.

Yes! Pop songs are strangely hard to play. They're full of weird rhythms and key signatures. My old roommate was really good at playing by ear, though, and could pick up a song on the piano really fast. On the other hand, she couldn't read music and couldn't count time for classical music at all. I found that kind of funny because I'm the exact opposite.

IKR? I spend half my time being like "wtf is that?" "no that's not right". I'm always so jealous of people who can figure out pop songs by ear. I'm the same as you - good at reading and playing etc. classical music.
