"The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed."
1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE. [I'm also adding: strikethrough the ones you HATED]
4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people ( Read more... )

Funny thing--I've read a lot of the books on that list, but when it came to reading the actual list, I quit at about 10 (once i had my 6 marked off). LOL 7 journals later, I still haven't read down the whole list!

I totally understand! I made it through, then realized I'd have to actually count them! Still not sure I got that right, what with scrolling and counting at the same time... You were smart, 10 is as far as you should have to go on the list!

ok, I counted and got 43 for myself. I don't understand why they list things like "Chronicles of Narnia" and then "Lion, Witch, Wardrobe" separately. You're counting it twice. You shouldn't get double credit. Same for Complete Shakespeare and Hamlet. If they're going to do that, they should list all the books separately, you know? Esp. Shakespeare. Narnia is a series, but aside from certain History plays, you're not losing anything not reading all of Shakespeare, by which I mean, it's not like you finish Macbeth and think, 'oh, what happens now? I'd better read King Lear and find out!'
