Agreed. Absolutely.

May I also recommend "The State Within", another british-produced intrigue? It's 6 parts, with Jason Isaacs (playing a good guy for once!) as the British ambassador to America caught up in some really complicated plots, involving a plane crash, a deposed president of a foreign country, and lots of tapped phones. It's great. Be prepared to watch it twice.

It's got a mix of great British and American actors, such as Sharon Gless and Alex Jennings, who I absolutely love. He never gets really good film roles, but this part is great!

What was your take on Cal's great regret at the end? I can't decide if he's upset b/c his friend is responsible, b/c he's the one who is going to tell everyone about it, b/c he'll probably lose the girl over it, or all of it.

Loved "the kids shoot the messenger". I don't know that he really understood how much he was risking until then.

I read an interview once that described Simm as looking like "37 going on 15", and the moment when he's got his faced pressed into the wall at the newspaper, crying, was the perfect example of that. He looked so young and out of his depth.

And btw, one of my favorite bits was Cal writing the letter to Anne, and then his fear about having her reading it. That was as sweet (and scared) as I've seen - just lovely.

*swoons*

What I would give for someone to do that for me! That was incredibly brave of Cal, laying himself out like that. I loved that entire section, especially the way they edited it. Got the impression he wrote a novel. It seemed like a lot of time passed while she was reading. LOL

Everything was great, from his writing, to changing his mind, to basically being forced to give it to her and then...the terror of waiting for her reaction. I swear, I turned into a little puddle.
