I am not going to have time to make dinner tonight. It's as simple as that. So I'm planning something in the crock pot. We have freshly-picked squash, so I want to use that up tonight (it's only two pieces, but it's been picked so it's going to rot if we don't use it soon). It's been a fantastic weekend, and I am sorry to see it going. We spent some great time over at the Lazy B farm, seeing all the animals and learning about shearing sheep. I learned that this is something of a dying art in our world, and it's not exactly an easy job. I also learned that Jacob's sheep, our first thought for having on our land, might ( Read more... ) -

I am in my Happy Place. Every muscle in my body except for my forearms is sore from hard work. My child is playing quietly around me, only stopping to ask me to play with her for a moment. The birds are chirping happily, flitting from one feeder to another. Our garden is bursting with new growth. My lovely wife is sleeping soundly, catching up ( Read more... ) -
It's turning out to be one hell of a morning...
So, I took the kids to the sitter, as every morning, then came home to grab some forgotten supplies. I get home and the neighbors billy goat is in our yard. Now, this happens. We're out in the country, and goats are pretty common around here. Although they're usually fenced in and not usually wandering around free. And no one likes a billy. They ( Read more... )
