This is really beautifully written. You used dialogue very well here, there's not a lot, but every word that's there adds to the tone of the scene. I'm also impressed with your use of the line "They made love". I've seen that used before, but with far less impact. It implies a lot of intimacy without seeming clichéd . With the build up to it and the immediate return to the introspective tone, it comes off as a very poigniant, tasteful fade to black.
