I'm guessing it's okay to come out now without being loaded down with Kevlar? Also, in case you were curious, Kevlar doesn't help when a door slams shut on your hand
( Read more... )
Possibly. It was definitely a slice of my life, in some respects.
Not bad, really. Cut and raw like hell, but at least it wasn't like what happened to that one guy in Rose Red, where the door slices through most of his fingers. That would've sucked.
I have no idea. But it was a lot like being tracked by a really good hunter, not even knowing what exactly is after you. I've had that before, and it wasn't fun.
It's not infected, but it probably wouldn't hurt to have someone wave a magic wand or whatever and mend it up. Who's the healer you know?

[Ruby finishes up frying her twinkies, puts a few on a plate and carries it plus her milkshake into the library. It's not hard to find Sam in the place. Puppy stands out whether he wants to or not. She saunters over and sits down across from him, sliding the plate of deep fried twinkies between them]
Let me see your hand.
[Not that she can do anything about it. She never really mastered healing magic when she was a witch. She just wants to see with her own eyes that Sam hasn't broken himself]
[Action] Okie-dokie. ^^wayward_samOctober 16 2009, 00:10:34 UTC
[Sam sits besides a stack of books ranging in topics from demonology to illusionist magic. His right hand is scribbling half-hearted notes onto a legal pad as he tries not to lose hope in eventually finding out something useful. His left hand, however, is wrapped up in a bandage, a bit of a deep purple bruise showing just above the knuckles. He blinks up at the plate of snacks before looking at the unfamiliar girl from his future, as though willing himself to remember someone he's never met.]
What? Oh... no, it's okay. [He holds it up to his face, as though verifying his own words.]

Ouch, Sam. Maybe you should have someone look at that? I know of one healer here, maybe you could find one to take care of it..

And uh... The salt didn't work, if that's any help in your research.

Thanks. And sorry about that. Hope the misinformation didn't get you hurt.

So these things have happened to you before, in your world?

Yeah, something like this. Risks of the trade, and all.

What is Kevlar?

It's basically a man-made material that can shield against bullets. It's usually fashioned into a vest, which doesn't do much to protect hands.

Ahh, it sounds like a useful type of armor.

It's pretty useful, even if it doesn't offer 100% protection.

Also, be more careful of doors.
