I'll mention hbics here in case she wants to answer as well, but I am going to say no for mythological things only because we had a specific "mythology" round previously? As for something that purports to be historical, I would say to use your best judgement unless you have something specific already in mind that you could run by us?

Well, I was thinking Tolkien because that is supposed to happen pre-recorded history. And I have ideas where I could go with it with a historical theme. It is my main fandom at the moment. But it is more mythological than anything, so I assume if mythology isn't okay that wouldn't be.
Absolutely! I don't think we could ever say any particular type of music would be unacceptable for a mix. And honestly history is SO not my strong suit I am more in the Hamilton-style camp of "this is kinda what happened so we're just gonna pretend and go with it."
Oh thank goodness. I always passed history, and my history focused lit classes, but man - the dates always got to me. So hopefully if I whiff on anything that's fine lol. AND YAY. I'm excited. Of course music history I always understood fine *facepalm* typical ;-)
I'm having ideas. What if I focused on a certain, time-centric piece of literature and tried to keep the music relevant to that era? Is that weird?
I would say that would be pretty interesting, honestly. I could never come up with something like that unless it was set in the 1990s or something, so I would find that to be really cool to see.
1) is alternative history acceptable? I'm thinking the Leviathan series by Scott Westerfeld, which is an dieselpunk version of WW One.
2) Also, if you have a specific historical fandom, does the music itself have to be from that historical era? ie Agent Carter has to be, say, 1940 - 1950 (if you go a bit past s2), or can it involve other decades of music?
Your first question is really interesting to me, because I didn't know such a thing existed honestly. I don't feel comfortable saying yes or no since I don't know anything about it, so for that I would say to use your best judgement.
For your other question, you can use any music you want. I don't know what I am making a mix about yet, but I am sure that my music selections won't be from the time period because I don't have any of that music.
well in that case, I'll use my best judgement by signing up! (I actually had Leviathan in mind for round #33, because I just re-read the books, but couldn't quite work out how to twist the idea to fit the theme. But this one's just right!)

I'm thinking maybe either Pompeii or Tsarist Russia. IDK. We'll see.

QUESTION. For this theme, are classical pieces okay? Like, mostly instrumental? Because that I could rock easy. =X
