I think of "old" more in terms of showing signs of aging instead of in terms of years old. For instance, Chuck Norris is over 70 but I don't see him as old because of his lingering tough guy image and physical fitness. On the other hand, my dad is 60 and I think of him as old because he's really aged inside and out-- sensitive stomach, gray hair, bad teeth, often confuses objects and people by saying the wrong name.
I have friends who are 20-30+ years older than me, and they like to think they are old, especially when I am around, but I always say to them "your not old, your older" and I think that applies to everyone. Age is just a number. I am only 20, and one of my closest friends is 54. Sounds crazy, but I don't think I will ever consider her old. She's got the wisdom, and maybe even the looks of a 54 year old. But she can have a good time like it's nobodies business.
