Christmas for me personally. I have already spent the other holidays alone, many of them habitually, so I guess I'm over it. It's typical for me to celebrate my birthday on a day other than my birthday itself; birthdays aren't nationally recognized holidays, so people don't always have time or energy to celebrate. The Thanksgiving holiday was always shorter growing up, so it feels more extraneous to me, especially with Christmas a month later, so if I have to pick one to take time off/pay to fly home for I go with Christmas-- and if there's no friends stuck around too (because they all did go home or whatever), Thanksgiving is pretty quiet. Until I left home, I just spent New Year's Eve at home with my immediate family, who always went to bed early and only sometimes woke up to see midnight pass. (Though I think solitary New Year's Eves are kind of nice-- very personal and reflective). And I was single on Valentine's Day until I was 21, so that one I actually feel weird not being alone for ( ... )

Thank you. That was exactly what I wanted to say, but probably far more coherent than I would have ever managed.

I hate having too much fuss being made over my birthday, so i prefer to be alone on that day.

Having spent all of them alone at various points in my life, I have to say I felt the worst when alone on Valentine's Day - since it is a day for partners/couples etc, and I spent the most of those alone over the years out of any of the holidays.

Besides, the rest are generally for families, and for the most part, I wouldn't give a toss if I never spent another Christmas/New Year/Holiday with any of my extended family (plus we don't do Thanksgiving here) other than my hubby. The rest get greedy and picky over gifts they've received but put no thought into what they give in return and it always degenerates into hurt feelings and political arguments and I hate it.

So personally I would be happy if ALL the Hallmark holidays simply cease to exist and I didn't have to deal with anyone outside my immediate family (my hubby and my cats) at all.
