1. The Cure - Disintegration 2. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin II 3. Depeche Mode - Songs of Faith and Devotion 4. The Beatles - The White Album 5. Tori Amos - Under the Pink 6. Elliott Smith - XO 7. AFI - Black Sails in the Sunset 8. The Pixies - Surfer Rosa 9. Radiohead - Kid A 10. - Bob Marley - Legend
I need a list much longer than 10 because of: 1. Ani Difranco - Dilate 2. The Reverend Horton Heat - Space Heater 3. Tool - Aenima 4. Faith No More - Angel Dust 5. Múm - Finally we are no one 5. Bjork - Homogenic 6. Tenacious D. - Tenacious D 7. Ween - Chocolate and Cheese 8. Robert Johnson - The complete works of 9. New Order - Substance 10. David Bowie - ChangesOneBowie
Several of these are cheating, but so is the fact that I put twenty answers down! Shouldn't matter if you were just looking for ideas, though. It was hard anough to pick twenty for me.
i like your list. your proposition seemed like a fun challenge, so after much thought and struggle, i decided (as best i could) that mine would go something like this:
10 talking heads - remain in light 9 brian eno - taking tiger mountain (by strategy) 8 pj harvey - to bring you my love 7 sigur rós - agætis byrjun 6 my bloody valentine - loveless 5 björk - homogenic 4 dead can dance - toward the within 3 suede - dog man star 2 radiohead - the bends 1 depeche mode - black celebration
very nice. Pj harvey and depeche mode were very high up on the list.... top 20 to be sure. brian eno and suede i can't say i've heard a whole lot of (although i've listened to a lot of bowie and roxy music just not eno's solo stuff.) i will check it out. thanks!
brian eno is worth checking into.. and if you like bowie, especially some of his older stuff, you might hear the influence he had on suede. suede (self-titled) and dog man star are two incredible albums. :)
I'm sure these picks vary from hour to hour with me...
10. AC/DC: Back in Black 9. AC/DC Highway to Hell 8. Black Sabbath: Live at Last 7. Crystal Method: Vegas 6. Tool: Aenima 5. G'n'R: Appetite for Destruction 4. Metallica: ...and Justice for All 3. Ozzy Osbourne: Diary of a Madman 2. Alice In Chains: Facelift 1. Led Zeppelin: Led Zeppelin
i've made a promise to myself that i'm going to try to listen to Queens of the stone age, rated R; The Clash, London Calling; and AC/DC, Back in Black evey morning for the whole summer. Jesus man, if you keep listening to all this shit, it'll make you go sterile.
oh and i just bought we sold our sold for Rock n' Roll on vinyl yesterday...
Chisel - 8 AM All Day ALL - Allroy's Revenge The Pixies - Bossanova Sleater-Kinney - Call the Doctor Jawbreaker - 24 Hour Revenge Therapy Black Flag - First 4 Years Weezer - Pinkerton The Ramones - Road to Ruin Lifetime - Hello Bastards Dr. Octagon - Dr. Octagonecologyst
This was actually really tough, and I'm sure I'm forgetting albums I like even more than the ones here.
you know i almost slipped Call the Doctor in there too maybe it's #11.
The first time i listened tp the First 4 Years, i really didn't like it. i was so used to the Rollins years that is sounded so different. it's now one of my favorites.
You know, for the hell of it I tried to get my old band to cover "Stay Where You Are", but for whatever reason the guitarist and bassist were completely uninterested. It would have been fun rearranging that song. Oh well.
I have to say, Damaged might be the only Rollins album (regardless of who he's playing with) I actively like. The later Black Flag stuff just didn't have the same drive, and I could never get into his solo stuff. If it weren't for Damaged, he'd be, hands-down, my least favorite Flag singer. As it is, he still might be.
