So it took us 24hours to actually get down there. I guess between 3 cars of people and a trip that was supposed to take 17hours......meh...... The low point of the trip was getting there and finding out that all the camp sites were full. We ended up finding a "primitive campground" and set up for the night only to find in the morning, that there ( Read more... )

The second day ended up selling out as well.
Which is probably why it seemed equally crowded to me.

Also, if there's nobody you really want to see until 7:30 pm, it's really not worth the heatstroke I was already suffering from. Hiking around in the desert is all well and good, but it should be for things you really want to see. We had a much better time getting there later on in the day, and I still saw the bands that I paid 70 bucks to see.

while i was paying for the bands i wanted to see, i was also paying for the bands that i didn't know, and would see. i was also paying for the artwork, the movies (even though i didn't get there) and cool shit that comes with festivals and such. I just didn't find sitting at a campsite, in the heat that much better than walking around to tents and seeing bands and taking in sights.

See, I found sitting in the shade having fun with my friends at the new spot far more enjoyable than hiking around in the desert unable to enjoy much of anything. Some people are more succeptable to heat than others, and I didn't think passing out or getting sick before the things I'd waited for was worth it. We actually had a very nice day before the show and I enjoyed myself greatly during the show. As for the festival experience, I still had five hours of it that evening and the whole day the day before. I think I well got my money's worth. To each his own.
