Well, he *did*... but it was more of an assisted suicide... and on Dumbledore's orders, i strongly believe!!!! No way should he be sent to Azkaban, though... no way!
Despite being a Snape fan and believing that he's on the "right" side, I agree with the verdict.
Did he or did he not kill Dumbledore with Avada Kedavra? He did = guilty.
Now if he'd been found guilty of TREASON or loyalty to Voldemort, I would be a lot more indignant and assured of reader stupidity. But to be honest, Leaky got it right. He is guilty if it, regardless of whether he was following Dumbledore's own orders or not.
