Commuting

Nov 20, 2006 06:53

So this morning I took squeakynorton to the airport so that she could go to New York for Turkey-day. On my way back from SeaTac to Oly I noticed the really long line of traffic coming from Tacoma to Seattle. Yuck! Somehow we just managed to avoid that mess by leaving at 4:30 in the morning. How can someone stand doing that everyday?

Wow.

The guy who sits next to me at work lives in Puyallup. He bought his house when he was working in Kent, which isn't horrible. Then he got transferred. His commute averages about 1:15 each way.

If he'd sold his house and moved early on, it wouldn't have been a big deal. But now he's trapped by the higher house prices here.

That has just got to suck! It looks horrible, just horrible...in Oly our traffic jams might cause you to have to wait 10 mins on the freeway, unless there is a VERY bad accident...

I don't know how people can do it. In a nromal day it takes me 12 minutes to drive home, and that's with 5:00 traffic (I know this because one day I put "Bat Out of Hell" on my CD player, and the 12-minute "Anything for Love" started up first, and it was just finishing as I pulled into my driveway. Seems like a lot to go three miles, but I have to actually drive further than that, because of the river and the construction.

Heck, I can stop at the store on the way home and still take less than an hour.
