The Twilight Saga

I resisted reading this book series. Something about the movie previews and the descriptions put me off. The fear of over-angsty teen love, perhaps.

Well, I read the sample chapter available for Kindle owners ( Read more... )

I am still waiting to borrow Breaking Dawn from someone, since I decided after reading New Moon I would not invest any more money in the series, especially since only hardback for #3 & #4. I don't expect to re-read them, but I would like to see how the story ends. I did read Midnight Sun last week, the unfinished draft she wrote of the first half of Twilight from Edward's point of view...amusing... :)

I'm totally interested in that newsletter. I was cackling while reading it. I agree. I was wondering about SMEYERS' psyche with the whole IMPRINTING bidness with toddlers. It's like she grew up with an interesting friend of the family, or something.

OMG yes with imprinting. What's worse (WORSE HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE I KNOW), is that Jacob is named for one of her brothers.

NOOOOOOOO! That's why you don't name main characters after family members. Creepy.

My favorite character was actually Alice. She was do damned chipper, Her personality reminds me of Kristin Chenoweth's character (from Pushing Daisies).

I liked the series. It definitely leans more toward the teen scene, but there have been so many ages interested in the books. My sister, who does not like vampires or fantasy novels, even loved it. So much so, she asked me to go to the last book's release party at Barnes and Nobles at 12:00am with her! It was crazy to see all the teens in prom dresses and boyfriends in tuxes! The polls going around; will Bella get bitten, yes or no. Red coffee and punch being passed about by Starbucks ( ... )

Happy Holidays back at ya! I'll have to check into Feehan and Ward. Thanks for the recommendation. :) Have you checked out Charlaine Harris' books or the HBO series True Blood based on those books?

Not the books, but John has been getting me the series. I really like it. If you like Highlander type sci-fi/fantasy stories with some real history mixed in, I can recommend a couple of authors.

Maybe we can get together over the holidays. It's been WAY too long. :)
