This tutorial is for Photoshop CS2, I don't know how compatable this will be with other programs.
I used
this screencap by me.
I used Auto Levels and Auto contrast. I always do this when I prepare a icon, it just makes it lok better (most of the time)
Now, I cropped it down to the size I wanted.
Yeah, it went over, but it will be fixed later. Plus, in something rather complicated that I did but I don't think made a difference, I took other parts of the picture on the other side and placed them around and it made it look whole (if you look at the set you can see the blank with that).
But I don't think I'm gonna have to do this though.
Sharpen, than Ctrl+F and fade sharpen to 75%
And now we'll start on the colouring. (When I made the icon set I have this as a action since I'm quite lazy)
Duplicate the base layer and set it to soft light. 100%
Duplicate (or layer via copy [crtl+J]) the layer once, set it to screen 100% then duplicate again 4 more times.
Set the topmost screen layer to Multiply 100%
Make a new layer and fill it with #00041b and set it to Exclusion 100%
Duplicate the exclusion layer twice, and set the top one to Difference 100%.
Now, go down to the base, duplicate, desaturate, and drag it up to the top. Then set it to soft light 100%.
New layer, and fill it with #eae2c0 and set it to soft light 100%
Duplicate and set it to colour burn 100%
Then duplicate again, desaturate, and set it to soft light.
Now the fancy stuff to cover up the black.
I took this texture (
) by
77words, rotated it 180 degrees, and set it to Multiply 100%
I'm not completely sure it's the one I used, since I smudged.
I used a soft round brush (default with PS CS2) at a high strength and smudged at the edge until it wasn't covering them.
Next, make a new layer, and then I used the custom shapes tool and used
this shape ( I have all the PS default shapes loaded, not sure which category it is in).
I switched over to the paths tool and right clicked on the shape and selected "Fill Path" You can fill it with any colour obviously but I chose white (#FFFFFF)
Now, to delete the path, just right click it again and select "delete path"
Next I used the
BN Suck my Balls font in #cccccc
I had "Run" at 18px, and and "far far away" at 9px.
Well it's fairly close.
