I don't think meeting the whole family is limited to people who are engaged. It depends on the family, really, and how close they are -- I mean, most people think bringing the boyfriend or girlfriend home to meet the family means bringing them home to meet Mom, Dad, and any brothers or sisters they have. For other people, that means meeting EVERYBODY in the family. And apparently that's just the way it works in Katie's family.

I know it's sometimes difficult to not feel guilty when someone offers to pay for something big and you don't really do anything to earn it, but if her aunt is offering, and she's not expecting anything from you, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't take her up on the offer.

Also, do you still have my controller? I'd kind of like that back please.

I always took meeting the family as an interview with the dad...not the aunt, the uncle, the best friend of the best friend of the aunt who's grandma works at this such and such place (no that's not speaking from experience but it's what it feels like). I don't want to meet everybody in the family, especially if we're just dating. I can understand the father but outside of that...it just got a little awkward.
As far as taking money from someone, I do feel guilty when it's such a large sum of money. Some people can just turn that off and go oh, money...free...ok...but I can't do that. Sure, it's free money...but there's also a hitch even if there is no hitch. See what I'm saying...? yes/no...?
And yes, I do have your controller. You can come over any time you like to get it.
