update #3, punk rock doesn't maen anything to me anymore. It's too broad too inclusive, while being too snoby, too fuckin' dead. the fact is punk is fuckin dead, because everything is punk. It's like saying rock music, only slightly more specific. Some might say it's wonderful to have so many bands under one name, but the word is just a collection ( Read more... )

Dick is now officially a fuck rocker, that means that the 2 of us ALONE decide who is fuck, which bands, what zines, etc. If the both of us don't say yes, nothing is fuck rock. Please do not ask if you can be fuck, declare yourself fuck, anything to this effect as it will likley piss me off. I'm deadly serious about this, and if it never leaves the 2 of us and our band, It will be because it wasn't allowed to. Part of the beauty of this sysetm, is that everyone has to vote you in for you to start using the title. It fucking means, everyone who came before me agrees that I am in some way adding to this movement. one person can make a diffrence only in terrorist actions, and fuck rock

Ok, I'm sorry. I just have to address this. Joe, you're my homie and all, but this "punk is dead" stuff is the same bull shit dribble people have been saying for twenty years. Literally. And I just have to say to all those who complain about punk being dead that I'm sorry. All you can do is remember punk rock when it was alive and remember the good times. Quit listening to the shitty Epitaph and Fat Wreck bands and start listening to the truly old punk. Sure, Television and the Ramones might be commercial now but is anyone going to deny that they are punk? Not were. Are. Quit listening to the Suicide Machines and Anti-Flag. Go listen to some Crass and The Fall. That is, of course, only if this whole "punk music" thing is that important to you. If not, you'll listen to music that you like and let that be it. And for people who hate labeling people so much I'm a little bit disappointed to see the emergence of a new one and equally stupid one. Actually, I think it's funny. And knowing Joe, it's a great joke. And I'm sure it was cristened ( ... )

Go listen to some Crass
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, have YOU not listened to some crass? how about the song PUNK IS DEAD??? THEY WROTE A FUCKING SONG ON IT. about how commercial the whole thing is, and no, it hasn't changed since then. there's a reason this bullshit dribble has been said for 20 years. punk is STILL commercial and dead. and what about you with your fugazi and cure listening. suicide machines and anti-flag??? heh, kinda funny too, joe don't like anti-flag.

Yeah, Crass just further proved my point that you have no point. I didn't think people could mourn for twenty years for a such a short lived genre of music. I can understand your point about the Cure (not being punk and all) but I'm not the one complaining about punk being dead. I listen to what I like. I'm not genre based like that. However, Fugazi is one of those bands that just won't give up on the punk rock ethos. They still do everything DIY, still reject commercialism, and they still run their own label making their own music. I'm just telling you guys to quit bitching about punk being dead and then going off and listening to the most commercial/modern of punk. It's lame.

i forgot, anti-flag are so commercial. the fact that they record their own shit and master their own shit means nothing right? and if memory serves, they too have their own record label where they make their own music. the fact that underground network and the terror state are out on fat wreck can be equated to RATM being out on sony. they still do everything the way THEY want to. i've talked to them about it. and if you'd spend some time listening to the suicide machines and talking to jay, as i have, you would know that you're talking out of your ass. i too listen to what i like. i don't limit myself by genres. and i listen to as much old shit as anyone. read my punk is dead post from earlier on. you'll see that i don't mean it's dead to me. i still believe in punk, and see it as a way of life. but punk as a scene lost its meaning a long time ago. that is what i mean by punk is dead. as for this fuck rock thing being a label, and me being against labels, i'm not taking it seriously.

fuck punk, fuck fuck, fuck joe, fuck kotu, fuck dick, fuck duck, fuck dave, fuck world trade, fuck genres. Listen to what you want cuz you like it, not cuz people are or arent making money on it. Respect them if they do it themselves but crap in a cd player or on a turntable is still crap and only you can judge what crap is.

Peace

everyone misinterpreted. The word punk is meaningless, it needs to be rechristened and reestablished if it's to mean anything anymore, because saying you're punk, or have elements of punk is like saying you eat food, just too damn broad. Sorry it got misunderstood
