I glanced nervously at the watch on my wrist once again, it showed I had been waiting in the pickup area at the airport for close to forty-five minutes. I really did not have the courage to call and have someone on the other end pickup and tell me something I did not wish to hear ( Read more... )

I was in the middle of getting snacks when I heard the doorbell."I'll get it!" I yelled in the kitchen. Taking the plate of snacks, I ran from the kitchen to the living room. Once I placed the plate down, I trotted over to the door. Adjusting my hair, I opened the door.

"Oh my god." I said when I saw Willow. Quickly, I looked at my watch. "Willow!" I knew I forgot something important. I adavanced forward to give her a hug. "I'm so sorry we forgot about picking you up. There was this thing at school and then Faith showed up here. Me and Xander just forgot." I frowned abit before stepping back abit.

"But I'm so glad you are home!" I said while turning my frown upside down and hugging her again. "The gang is going to be so happy that you back! Xander!" After letting go of Willow, I looked over into the living room. I was happy.

"Hey Dawnie." I could feel a smile form after hearing the greeting I received from Dawn, at least one person wasn't wishing me back to England. When she made the move to hug me I allowed my arms to glide around her, embracing Dawn a moment before I took a step back as I drew my arms away ( ... )

I was all relieved that the doorbell had broken the tension in the living room, but when Dawn opened it and squealed, all the awkwardness came back. Red sure had timing. Well hey, maybe she'd attract some of the oh-god-scary-murderer attention that I'd been getting. I sure wouldn't mind sharing, for once.

"Quite the Hellmouth reunion we got goin' here. Hey Red. Glad to see I can still call you that," I blurted before I could hold back the remark about her once-black hair. I really didn't need to be pushing people's buttons.

Had to wonder, though...how come Red got the big welcome-home excitement and all I got were nervous glances and cold comments? It's not like she and I were that different. Much as I hated to admit it, she'd probably be my best bet for an ally. Man, that was a weird thought.

"No, seriously, glad you're, y'know, back and everything," I tried a politer tack, even rising from the couch and stepping towards the door.

I heard her voice, and that was all it took. I put down the phone, 'cause Buffy hadn't picked up anyway, and nearly ran into the foyer.

"WILLOW!" I went to hug her, but was so relieved she was here, I picked her up and kissed her firmly on the cheek.

"You're home, and you're okay, and how was England? Did they have anything cool? Did you ride a double-decker bus? See the changing of the guard? How is old 'stiff upper lip? Oh, and did ya notice?" I took a breath

"Faith is here".

"Quite the Hellmouth reunion we got goin' here. Hey Red. Glad to see I can still call you that,""Hi Faith." My smile fading as I heard her remark concerning the color of my hair and I was about to inquiry about why she was here in Sunnydale when I heard his voice ( ... )

I looked around as the gang made their happy reunions, though I noticed that Willow didn't seem to welcome Faith. This wasn't too much of a surprise, considering the welcome Xander and Dawn had given her.

I'd heard one or two things about Willow - just gossip on the watcher grapevine - but they were enough to make me feel a bit nervous. I decided to sit quietly and wait until everyone was settled before saying anything.

Once all the welcoming home was finished with I cast a glance to the young girl sitting in the living room of the Summers home.

"Hi." I said, giving a friendly smile to the girl, glancing back then to Xander with a "who is she" look.

"Um, hi," I said, smiling nervously. "I'm Becca. These guys have heard my story, so the short version is - I'm a potential. Slayer that is. There are a few of us around, all over the world. Um. My watcher..." I felt my eyes fill with tears and I blinked them away. "My watcher got killed by something. Faith says she was attacked by something that looked like the demon that got him. Anyway..." I took a deep breath. "I thought this might be the best place to come if something demony wants to kill me. Because, you know, Buffy's here." I looked down at my feet.

"Hi Becca, I'm Willow, but you probably already figured that out." Giving another smile to try and ease the uncomfortable state I figured the girl was in, being in the company of complete strangers.

"You may be right there, Becca." Was really all I could think to say as the memory of what happened in England returned. My seeing the hellmouth, its teeth and knowing that it wanted to swallow the town, whole. All I could think of was that it had started, not yet here in Sunnydale, but places beyond, and it would soon make its way here.
