Oh... :( I never really thought depression could be that serious. I mean, I never really saw it as an illness. I've been in a depressive state for quite long periods in my teenage years, well, not just sad, I mean, really depressive, cuz my parents were getting divorced; I could start crying without no real reason, and this ended with alcohol and smoking and a lot more happening I don't really wanna mention cuz too scary to remember... Friends offered me to see a doctor but I kept myself busy with school work for a distraction, and somehow snapped out of it myself, without any meds etc. and then it just went away and never came back.
Well, like I said, I don't understand a lot. So when you are Manic Depressive, you're born with it and it's just there, no matter if you ever get depressed or not?
If you want to understand Manic Depression better, I recommend Stephen Fry's documentary that he did a couple of years back, chroniciling his experiences with it: Stephen Fry: The Secret Life on a Manic Depressive. Although I knew about it, it certainly opened my eyes a lot as well.
He probably did something publicly and/or very dangerous in one of his manic states and his parents sent him to the Asylum rather than deal with him themselves. I think he controls himself rather well with his meds and uses his mania to his own advantage. I'd hate to see him in a full on depressed mode, cus I like my Cambell being happy.
Yeh, probably. I dunno if they should've shown this in the series, cuz I just can't imagine him really depressed. I mean, he's so hyperactive and sunny and full of life and ideas, like he's got batteries that never fade.
I had a bipolar friend once in RL, and know quite a few people from other fandoms who are bipolar. He never went through a depressive phase when I knew him. He was on meds at the time

I have a teen son who is bipolar and his manic episodes would sometimes get violent, so I've been there.

Well, I was thinking maybe his depression got better after he actually found his purpose in life, i.e. being a DJ? Could that help?

Ok I see it better now, so it purely depends on the individual and his, dunno, power of will, whether depression progresses or not?

It just caught me as strange. I don't know why, but it seemed a bit wrong.
