fic meme, part II

Dec 23, 2007 18:17

apparently i missed the other half of that fic meme where you talk in more detail about the best and worst and most whatever, so in lieu of that i'm going to come clean about the stories i may or may not ever end up actually writing but would, seriously, like to. these are ones that at least have some kind of established form in my head, not the thousands of random ideas floating around on any given day.

in rough order of how likely it is they'll actually get finished/written anytime soon, from most unlikely to almost surely:

+ His blackheart machine, Jon/Brendon, set right around Jon's first performance with Panic. not a very nice story, but also not intended to be very long. the first page or so is written, and the rest mapped out. mostly right now i'm listening to and watching the footage from the weenie roast performance and thinking about it.

+ Untitled (Patrick's arrested development), Pete/Patrick. born of a day when i wondered why everyone isn't as convinced that this obviously overachieving, barely girl-dating, sort of awkward dude doesn't ping as many gaydars as Brendon Urie, which spun into a theory about how on paper Patrick Stump is the gayest man alive, and what if Pete was the only one who really saw that, who saw it early and, miraculously kept it a secret from everyone including Patrick. or:

This is Pete's plan:

1. Make the world recognize and appreciate Patrick's sheer awesomeness.

2. Make it easier for Patrick to live in the cruel world and yet still appreciate his own awesomeness, gay parts and all, by:

a) making out with dudes a lot

b) talking about making out with dudes even more

c) punching anyone who has a problem with that

d) generally softening up the world a little, getting it ready so that once fully convinced of Patrick's awesomeness, Patrick can make out with any dudes he wants (and presumably, at least eventually, Pete), no matter where he wants, and no one will say or do anything worthy of getting punched.

This is Pete's plan. It takes longer than he was expecting.

+ "He's no Pete Wentz," Pete/Ryan/Brendon, which I'd nearly forgotten until addictedkitten brought it up in that tell-me-what-to-write meme. set just before Panic is signed, and only a threesome in that Pete convinces himself that convincing Ryan and Brendon to fool around in front of him is some selfless act and not simply a selfish desire to fuck them both.

+ Untitled (girlfriends) In nobody's eyes but mine, Ryan/Brendon, because deliberatehips told me i should write a story about Ryan and Brendon taking Jac and Audrey back to hotel rooms together and from there it spun out into this long story that is essentially the opposite of Give me more, in that it's Ryan who is relatively okay with his queerishness and Brendon who's not at all sure how to touch Ryan if there aren't girls in the room.

+ Untitled (out of place and underdressed), Ryan/Brendon cross-dressing fic. in which Brendon walks in on Ryan wearing black lace lingerie and, to make it up to him, embarks on an ever-more elaborate series of purchases of underwear he thinks Ryan might like. because it's all about what Ryan might like.

+ The mirror stage, Pete/Ryan, aka the un-Halloween story about the male gaze and camwhores in love. this is in major revision hell, but necessarily so, and will eventually make it out alive, I am sure. it's just taking more time and attention than i seem to have available for it. also I somehow bowed to my own internal pressure to say nearly every profound thing I have to say about either Pete or Ryan or their relationship to each other in one place, which is kind of a lot for a girl to take on.

i haven't really done something like this in so long i can't remember an example, but with that girlfriends story up there, i'm thinking i'll start posting it in cleaned up but not really perfectly polished chunks, possibly not even in order. will that drive you folks nuts? the chance of it ever getting posted at all -- or even put in a form other than rambling IMs, which i will not be posting as is, don't worry -- is relatively slim otherwise, i'd say. i read things like that sometimes, but not often, and i'm wary of just taking the easy/lazy way out, but it'd be kind of nice to post something more often than every, oh, four months, given how much of my brain is still taken up with these boys on a regular basis. what do you think?

ETA: It turns out you can start reading it here.
