And Jack realised something that day.
Something he had never realised before.
Something so basic, so simple;
that he wasn't sure why it had never occurred to him.
It was probably his pride that had caused him not to see -
to block out the obvious meaning of this strange turn of events.
Allison was made for him, as he had always known.
She was always going to be his, at one point or another.
Fate had called them by name.
Yet the part that Jack had missed all these years,
the monumental point that could have changed a great many things.
She was made for him, too.
Fate had brought them together, just as it would bring her to him now.
It was...poetic.
His death was fated, all along.
There could have never been another solution.
He was always going to die.
She was always going to be left alone.
And he was always going to be there to step in.
He realised that now.
He had never really understood fate, until now.
And this realisation...
it made him shiver.
