10_per_genre Have you ever had one of those stretches which just feel violent? Kate had, and most recently just now. It was the best stretch she’d had in a very long time. It was the first day she’d had off in three weeks. Yes, that’s right, three. For three whole weeks she hardly slept, ate poorly and put up with her boss and partners own unusual brand of cruelty and strangeness. It wasn’t that she disliked working with them. Oh no; she enjoyed it in fact. However, it was a little too much to put up with for three weeks strait. She shook her head in protest of the thoughts of work still running around in her head at a million miles per hour.
Enough! She didn’t want to think about work anymore. She had two days, two precious days off before returning to work. That is, of course, assuming she didn’t get called back in. Which she probably would; but until then she was free. When she had arrived home that evening it had taken no longer than about a minute for Kate to completely remove all of her clothing. It was spread in a chaotic-type pattern between her front door and bathroom. She was sure it was the best shower she’d ever had. After her (wonderful) shower she had made herself an extremely great tasting pasta dish for dinner (with a large glass of red wine of course), and then proceeded to rug up on the couch with a good book.
Three hours later Kate could hardly believe how long she’d been reading. Deciding that it was time for bed she got up from the couch and moved over to the desk to check her email for the last time before the morning. Even though she had a work email and the security on it was quite high she always seemed to be weeding out junk mail. Was she really interested in enlarging her...well, no she wasn’t. Perhaps she wanted to buy illegal pharmaceuticals with the company credit card; no, probably not. Once all the junk mail was dealt with it was down to the personal emails. There wasn’t much tonight; an email from her mother and an email from an address she hadn’t seen before.
She opened it with vague interest;
Kate,
It’s been a while since we’ve really had a chance to talk.
I’ve been thinking of you for a while. It makes everything so much harder.
All I want to do is talk to you, to be with you, to hold you tight as you sleep.
Liam
Kate’s mind was reeling. It really wasn’t much to go on. She didn't know any Liam's, not that she could remember anyway. She checked the email address again, she definitely didn’t know it and it wasn’t in her contact list. Honestly, she wasn’t sure whether to be worried or excited. It could be an old flame, a co-worker playing a joke, or an email sent to the wrong person. Whatever it was she was curious. Opening an internet window she looked up the address in Google; Abby would not have been impressed with her low-brow technique. Kate wasn’t a tech-head like Abby though. Nothing. She didn’t think there would be.
A moment later she had decided to leave it and go to bed, she would ask Abby or perhaps McGee to trace the email in the morning and she would have her answer, but for now she needed her beauty sleep.
