Wordpress if you want total control or blogger if not.
I also have more storage and bandwidth then I know what to do with. You're more then welcome to cyber squat if you'd like. Also consider using Google apps for your domain. That way you can have full Gmail functionality for youremail@your.com. If you go that way I can help you get google talk working.
If you want to pay for hosting yourself, Dreamhost.com works well, and I can get you a code that would make your first year nearly free.
If you are using Dreamhost for you hosting then then it's fairly easy to get things up and running. Just login at the the Dreamhost web panel then click this link and verify that your domain is 'Fully Hosted' which you should see under the 'Web Hosting' column. After that just click here to install Wordpress.
You have two options for installing Wordpress: Easy mode, and Advanced mode.
When using 'Easy mode' you don't have to worry about updating anything or configuring your blog.
'Advanced mode' lets you have complete control over the way your blog looks and what plug-ins you use on your site. Unless you just have an aversion to technology, this is the way to go.
After you've installed Wordpress just need to head over to your domain and configure things.
If you go with 'Advanced mode,' I'll come up with a couple of plug-ins that will helpkeep your blog running smoothly.
If you need any help getting it off the ground, let me know.
