Imagine that -- an election devolving into politics.

I think both you and Jeffrey Simpson sell the parties a little short -- they all had policies somewhere behind the slogans and gimmicks.

I'm kind of offended by that Jeff Simpson piece, and will have to go off in a corner after my exams and figure out what to say about it. But I'm in agreement with all your alpha-bulletted points -- except that I don't think it's possible to find a leader who will write his own speeches, since he'll easily find others to do it for him.

I mean. I was kind of offended too, but that's why I liked it. Um...how do I explain. I don't agree with all of it, especially not its disdain for the country, but I think he hits on a point with regards to issue-dodging.
