So...the last time I posted in this thing, I'd just gotten tired of ranting about useless stuff in my life and decided to start a (since failed) music blog, given that that's what this was turning into anyway

I listen to radio music but I don't think it makes me learn anything. The experimental or the influential music, or even the Pitchfork music, it does something different. I like an Avril song right away and then I get sick of it, but I warm up slowly to a Radiohead song and I feel it deeper.
I clicked on the critics' articles from the other websites and they seem like they're squinting too hard. I like listening to Ashlee Simpson, but for some reason these guys think they'll learn something.
What do you think of the people who really care about zombie movies?

Anyway the point is Avril's songs are early likers that you get sick of. We think we'll learn (learn's the wrong word, but regardless) something from an Ashlee Simpson album because we have in the past.
If you want some interesting reading check out Kogan's Las Vegas Weekly column. Most of them are linked to from here: Rules of the Game. Start with the first and work forward when you have spare time. It's interesting at the least, and convincing at best. Plus, it'll give you an idea of where the discussion is coming from without having to read hundreds of ILM posts or something.

Anyway, not that I'm a huge zombie movie fan, but Romero's early ones are well done pieces of satire and cultural commentary. His newer ones are supposedly overly heavy-handed, but the old ones are on the mark. Plus, Shaun of the Dead is brilliant, doing double duty as both satire of zombie movie conventions and certain parts of British society

Oh man, I'm picking way too many arguments for during your exam time. I promise, right after I post this, to write out an actual reply and save it in a text file for later.
Since I listen to almost every kind of music, including mainstream pop, I can get where you are coming from. It's hard to find someone who is willing to discuss, or even just simply don't dismiss, pop music.
