My moms' job was dissolved along with two more school buildings in Muskegon. So, skee-town kids... Freobal, Angel, Glenside and another school near broadway are now only memories. It is beyond ridiculous that the richest nation in the world should have any reason to make its schools, medical facilities and general public good cut billions from ( Read more... )

first the art museum sucks i have allways hated that place. not because of the art but because of the people that follow me around who think i'm gonna break or steal a piece of art.

second you can say goodbye to that brick building i'm pretty sure its getting torn down.

well if it doesn't get torn down they will tear out the inside of the building.

I agree with Jeremy_says- the GRAM sucks, and I can't see how building more room for them to be lame in is going to help matters.
I hope you're right about republican hell!

Yea, they really need to charge less and incorporate all the art students just down the road at kendall.

so sorry about your mom. my mother was teaching art for many years, tenured and everything, and PROMISED that her job was safe a few years back when they made cuts. then she got the slip. there was a teacher who had been at her school a teeny bit longer than her and held a teaching MINOR in art. even though he was the high school math teacher, they gave him HER job because he had seniority. it's a real kick in the ass and you just want to poke someone in the eye real hard for it.

That sucks! A math teacher cannot double as an art teacher it requires two very separate mentalities.

The extra scary thing about my mom is that she is tenured SPECIAL ED, just a few years ago she was in demand.
She will get another job in her district though, hopefully. She'll just has to get some other person with less seniority booted. Which you can imagine, she feels horribly about.

and they tore down that neat diner by the museum...i don't remember the name...it is moving down the st...but they tore it down! down! down! gotta get down to get funkay. when you get funkay you bust a move, where is my dozer? where is my wreckin' ball?

no i actually agree. i miss old 'skegon.

the giant pile of rubble where the mall once was just doesn't do it for me.

and while muskegon county is being built up, muskegon city is nothin but crapola. all the new biz is going to shores/fruitport. lakes mall...fuckin' fruitport.

that might as well be ottawa damnit.

we should wage war on shores/fruitport. they've been plotting this for years. we should have been expecting long ago.

It was called the greasy spoon.

I agree about the mall too. In general all malls are bad because they depend on people driving to them. Where as an inner city shopping district would encourage foot traffic and public transit. I think urban sprawl is the #1 problem with GR, Detroit and Muskegon.

So, yea for Gov. Jenny G. and her cool cities initiative
