Wow. There were points during that where I just kept thinking "Oh my god. That's me. That's what I'm doing." I mean, obviously there were some big differences, but it was really...startling I guess?

The woman in that story is amazing as are you... it blows my mind what a human being can withstand and move forward from...i mean- emotional pain is one thing and it is difficult- but on top of thatto have your body cut in half and not just survive but thrive... xoxoxo lyn
I can relate to the parking situation. To the average person there doesn't appear to be anything disabling about me. Stage 3/4 emphysema is all internal unless you're familiar enough with it to spot the slightly distended chest and upper abdomen. I can walk the 50 feet to the door from the handicapped spot. An extra 100 feet beyond? Doubtful without a stop to collect my air again. The same ones who would smugly mouth off in the parking lot probably don't see me stop several times in the store to get my air back before moving on. The consolation I take is some of those folks likely ending up in the same situation as me in a few years.
