The Vicky Bliss mystery series by Elizabeth Peters (who's most well known for her Amelia Peabody mysteries) are probably my favorite mystery series ever. They're fun romps that I cannot rec enough. And The Camelot Caper, which ~could be considered a prequel (all of her books are rather linked, and the main male character from her Vicky Bliss series is in The Camelot Caper) is also fantastic.

...man, why didn't I request this for Yuletide? Arghhhhh.

For something light and amusing and mystery-ish, I really like the Spellman series by Lisa Lutz. It's about a somewhat dysfunctional family of private investigators -- but not in a depressing way. Dysfunctional in a funny way, like they can't help but investigating each other all the time. You can read a description of the first book here and there is an excerpt as well: http://lisalutz.com/books/spellman-files/

Have you read The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau Banks? I think you'd enjoy it!

Everything by Robin McKinley! But especially The Blue Sword - probably my favorite book, and a great adventure romp with a few perilous moments but no truly depressing bits. (On second thought, steer clear of Deerskin.)
