What is your home country, by the way (I don't think you told me... except for telling me you're Spanish)?
And how old is your dad, exactly (if you don't mind me asking)?
I'm sorry about this. My dad had a similar problem, too. He used to work at Circuit City for the longest time, and he was great at his job. My dad's really handy with tools, and can fix just about anything. But when his store was relocated and he couldn't attend it anymore, he had to find another job, and it went all downhill from there. Circuit City was the last good job my dad had. Now he's been bouncing between these pathetic minimum-waged jobs all this time, and it's really depressing. Sometimes, life isn't very fair at all. v_v
And yes, there are a lot of people making it by in life with just the bare essentials, and some not even that. Life is a sad, sad thing. v_v ::shakes head::
I mean, although your dad and I have trouble understanding each other because of the accents, I can totally see that he is WAY smart, and I remember that time you nearly killed yourself with that knife thing during a math project, and he did like everything. Way more than any first aider, I'll tell ya. We should sue. INJUSTICE!!!
This is just...bad. I mean, when the man is a genius, he can do almost anything, and now the only thing that's standing in his way is AGE?! I suddenly feel the urge to swear at the walls... =_=
Are you sure it's age that's the preventing facotr? I swear we had a discussion about this a few days ago in my German class. Teachers aren't even requred to fill in the blanks on application forms for age, now, because of age-discrimination (or so my teacher has said), and the jobs I've applied for in the past (despite they're being only minimum wage) only required the age-blank to be filled in if you were a minor. I suppose that could be different for doctors, but I don't see how or why.
Whatever the matter of it is, I agree that that is incredibly unfair. I would be pretty upset, too. Has he applied to more than just that hospital? Surely there's one around that would contract him.
I'm really sorry about your situation. >< It really pisses me off when people just get so wronged like that.
Yeah, he's applied to more than one, but that was the one he was more likely to get in to.
The age discrimination bit is more informal than outrightly stated [...since it'd be unconstitutional]. All other residents are usually in their late 20s and early 30s, and they even asked my dad on the interview if he would mind the fact that his 'boss' would be younger than him.
Apparently, it was a question that came up a lot in the interview process.
Ugh! That's just sickening! >< Things like this make me so angry! I'm sorry your father didn't get the position. I really hope something else works out.
