I think I'm starting to see taxidermy as almost honoring the animal. Displaying it in a natural-manner is kind of neat

I always hated Audubon because what you describe sounds like working with the environment and using and respecting whereas he just wasted so many birds for research. It was more about him. random aside.
It's still creepy (even though I know the eyes are only glass) Whenever someone would mention Taxidermy, I'd think of Anthony Perkins in Psycho. XD Looking back, it's actually a bit insulting!
We have a lot of 4H programs out here though it's all Ag and animal husbandry. There was a deer problem in the Bay Area though for awhile.
It's different living out in the country. Suburban 4-H never had projects dealing with hunting. We typically did Ag, husbandry and home-ec projects
