Ponderings of a Knitting nature

So I have a scarf that I've been working on since late May or so.  It's a Lace Ribbon scarf that I'm doing in Manos Silk.  I love how the yarn is knitting up for the pattern, but I'm starting to realize that it's going to be quite a bit shorter than I prefer in a scarf.  I like them LONG.  However, I decided I wanted this one to be wide as well.  ( Read more... )

Oh wow, that sounds so much fun :) The Ravellenic Games I mean! Very cool!

It sounds almost as if you want to tear the scarf out and restart....to make it longer...give it some thought.

I'm excited about them. Plus it will get me off my butt to finish some knitting projects.

I think I'm going to rip out the scarf and do a Moebius Cowl http://catbordhi.com/patterns/cashmere-moebius-cowl-2/ I'll just do a longer version. More like an inifinity scarf.

Have you considered buying another skein of the Manos Silk in the same colour and using the difference for a matching hat or gloves or something?

Oh knitting, thing I haven't done since... WoW. >_>;;

I wish there were a way to successfully knit while doing other things that require hands.

Unfortunately, the color variations in Manos Silk tend to be fairly big. My LYS is out of the colorway and I could order it online, but it might be a big enough difference that it would bug.

I think I've decided to frog it and do a Moebius Cowl/infinity scarf instead.

Probably a wise choice. I'm a sufficiently reckless knitter that I'll often just say, "Fuck it." and buy another skein regardless of color lot.

But Moebius Cowls are so cute. I approve of this plan.

I, unfortunately, am sufficiently OCD enough that there would be need of self-medication if the colors were off. :)

I really do like the cowl. I'm going to increase the cast-on stitches to increase the circumference to make it more of a scarf or even shoulder caplet. The Manos Silk is light enough that it would be wearable here for a good chunk of the year.
