getting back on the horse

Nov 03, 2009 11:12

Mr. G is home. I also happen to be in the Minneapolis area. (It is a complete coincidence that I was also here last time he returned from a big international trip. I'm not here to assist with the decanting. Honest.)

Mailbag time! )

How very... specific.

How do I know you're not a spambot? ^_^

You don't think I'm real?? I'm gonna go cry into a pint of Ben&Jerry's Brownie Batter(tm) ice cream [link], then take out my frustration on a variety of great flash games from PopCap Games(r) [link].

To be more specific, I'm always fascinated to find out non-techy interests of fellow tech geeks (which may be presumptuous, but being the web goblin, I assume you're at least somewhat of a tech geek). My non-techy thing is psychology, but anthro is closely related to it. And I grew up on mythology stories, mainly Greek.

So for all the reasons given above, I found your post interesting. Is that specific enough? :)

No need to ask. I really wish social networks would call them something other than "friends".

They should have called it "reading list" instead of "friends list". That choice of name has led to incredible amounts of confusion and unnecessary drama.

LJ promised to do this years ago. Except then Ad Revenue (tm) became more of a brass ring and we got a ton of unnecessary crap like voice posts and virtual gifts and sponsored journals.

Why am I not surprised?

Why do I get the feeling that this is about 95% random (appropriate) names picked from LJ and mythical questions to suit the webgoblins personal proclivities???

Hey, all the questions were asked in public right here:

Oops! I've been away on business for a while, and missed that lot as it had scrolled off the bottom of my friends page.

So, OK, you have a random bunch of "friends" out there, don't you? No offence was intended, btw...

Heh.

You lot ask interesting questions. Or maybe I'm good at spinning straw into gold.

My most successful paper about them was entitled something like, "The Shared Cognitive Mediated Structures of Dumping Someone". My professor said she wished she'd read it before her divorce.

Is there any chance you might put it somewhere where the online community can read it? It sounds interesting!

I may still have it digitally on my NAS as home. I'm not sure I'd want to share it even if I could find it, though; I've since realized that I failed to address several cases.

I'll try to find it, re-read it, and see what I think.

Oh, good, another male who loved the Time Traveler's Wife. I can encourage my husband to not feel shame at liking a "chick" book now. (I kid, it's totally NOT a chick book...)

Totally not a chick book.

I agree it really isn't a chick book. I mean, without spoilering it, the dark turns go REALLY dark and there's not nearly enough "and waves of burning passion and lust washed over her body" type bullshit to make it a chick book.

*laughs* no waves of burning passion, no. I'm being mostly facetious -- I basically forced my husband to read it after describing the plot in some detail, and about 10 pages in he was hooked. I know plenty of guys who loved it.
