Maslow was a physchologist in the 1940's. He came up with the concept of the Hirarchy of Needs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maslow's_hierarchy_of_needs

Essentially, you need some things, then you need others, etc.

Another point about this that I meant to mention in the post is something I noticed about my actions this week as a result of these "loss of needs being met". When I'm feeling like I'm dangerously lacking the needs that involve other people, I tend to sometimes go about getting them back in unhealthy ways. This results in the lost puppy or clingy behaviour and being WAY too dependant on other people to meet my needs (which I've here identified that I need to work on the self stuff). This has been a huge problem for me in the past and something I need to work on being attentive of.
