four years ago i was scoffed at by fellow colleagues for largely criticizing a certain war (Iraq- not Afghanistan). it was just SO obvious it was the right thing for us to do. how unpatriotic I was; how stupid of me!!! well here we are now, and it's 700,000-deaths-cons-outweighing-the-pros-a-huge-problem too late. sorry, i had to vent.
of course there are plenty of other issues. but i, too, hope the future will brighten up. feel free to delete if a flame war ensues; but let me first say anyone who disagrees with me is COMPLETELY wrong and a giant doo-doo head.

But yeah, the thing that I was reading when I wrote this was http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/07/20070717-3.html and how it's not on any news on TV or online that I've seen yet. Seems to me like the kind of thing that can use vague language to take away rights, one more step towards political dissent being illegal. This pretty much says "If we don't like your protests, we can just say you pose a significant risk of a violent act that threatens stability" then poof, all your stuff is now gone. The fact that something like this was an executive order and not made known to the public just makes it seem like a scheme.

the letter is dated july 17, so maybe there hasn't been enough time for it to get out there yet. but i still think it's weird- as it is an executive order. a "crazy scheme"? i don't know, brian. all i know is that i already bought the dream.
