BTW, I've been thinking about Mabel. It may not seem like such a great time or good idea to get a dog now. But if you get one that's kind of calm and undemanding, I think Mabel will have a better time while the folks are out earning dog food money.

Hmmm, yes, I've been wondering... Part of the impetus also is that we have the next 3 weeks when I'm between jobs that I could spend more hours with NewDoggie and Mabel, and we don't know when anyone will have that kind of at-home time again in the foreseeable future.
