Yesterday fair ardaniel had to work, leaving me to my own devices for most of the day. I'd gotten a call the day before informing me of a local Obama phonebank nearby and decided what the heck, I've already given the guy $30, why not spend a few hours on the phone for him ( Read more... )

Oh, that's why my last few political telespam calls have CID'd as WIRELESS CALLER.

That would be why. They have a handy link on their website even that appears to let you tie into the system with your cell.

Maybe, maybe not. I had to call into a central number, make sure it knew my phone number, enter in the appropriate agent/pin number, then hang up. After a few seconds, I got called back, a prerecorded voice said 'prepare to qualifytake calls!', some silence, a beep and you were on the line with the person you were 'calling.' When the call was over, you press * instead of hanging up, you get to enter whatever relevant code for how the call went (for obama, for mccain, voicemail, please stop fucking calling me, &c), hit #, and then wait for the next call to pickup. So some other middleman system was actually making the calls. How that registers on CID I'm not sure.

My first run of it was, to me, a 80 minute single incoming phone call. :)
