Use of Calendar. Shame follows

Dec 24, 2004 02:02

It's been nearly two months, which means it's almost time to update. But seeing as it's Christmas I thought I'd jump the gun a little as a gift to you guys. Another result of this period of holiday cheer is that I'll actually be writing a non-fictional entry today. I know I've said that before (and many of you actually believed me), but this ( Read more... )

Hey, interesting entry. Good stuff. I'll come back to it when I'm back from the beach with some thoughts, or whatever it is that I have. Accidents. I'll come back with some accidents.

In other news, just dropped by to thank you for the A-CHOICE feedback on my website - it was thrown together at the last minute and...yeah. Er, what I'm trying to say is, you were very helpful! Cheers! I probably have more to say on the matter but I really have to go pack now.

It's only 9.30 and we're not going until lunchtime... but have you ever seen how much chicks pack? I mean, we're going away for FOUR days! I've got to clean and iron a few extra kitchen sinks to take with me!

Happy Holidays. Or un-holidays. Or whatever it is you atheists do! Happy chicken sandwiches. HEH. I'm babbling. Be good. Bye.

We still have holidays. Instead of Christmas we have Science Day, though, where we celebrate the dark arts of chemistry and mathematics, and burn an effigy of Steven Gould.

Merry Science Day, and have a happy Arbitrary Point of Solar Revolution.

Very nice. Good to learn about your stuff.

I myself utterly HATE the term "religion". Really, it makes me shudder more violently than a holden. This is mainly because I, along with my parents and brothers, had a really REALLY terrible experience with a church we used to go to. Suffice to say we left the church and our lives completely flipped around to the point where we now all strongly hold an atheistic standpoint. Which of course has made the majority of our extended family frown upon us a bit. But if we don't frown upon them for their unjustified theories, then why should we be frowned upon for seeing such sound logic?

Anyway, I could honestly ramble about this for paragraphs, but I'll spare you the tedium. I'm sure you know the drill anyway.

Nice to see a new entry by the way!

GO CHISOLM! wedley December 27 2004, 05:16:01 UTC
Yeah, I also used to avoid the term religion whenever possible. But I've been forced to admit that atheism is actually a religion of a sort. Semantics aside, it's also partly because I hate it when people say "I'm not religious, I'm more a spiritual person" and I don't want to be like them. Now THEY make me shudder. Shudder from barely repressed rage. I hate hypocrites.

I was the vice house captian once. I had a badger. Or even a badge. WOne of those amusing typos like busty instead of busy. as in, I am having a very busty day today, maybe I shall wear a badger or two. GO Chisolm!

Stewart's rude comments (viewable at http://www.livejournal.com/users/mr_idiot/2004/12/29/) stem from his realization that I'm a compulsive liar. This entry is not true. Nor was my entry about the other Wes who wore a White Ninja T-shirt. Normally I wouldn't say anything. I'd just leave it, and let people believe whatever. But... uhh... I'm uncomfortable with people believing this last entry to be in any way indicative of my thought processes. I thought it was obviously dumb and too contradictory to belong to someone of my intellect. I was apparently wrong ( ... )

Awww. I always get so depressed when I read Lucas and your journal entries. I mean...you guys put some EFFORT into writing something that other people might actually enjoy reading. It makes me feel so selfish. As a matter of fact, I'm so upset by it that I might just go and write another angsty entry! THEN you'll be sorry ( ... )

No offense intended, everyone.

I used to be an agnostic too, until I read an article by Douglas Adams about atheism. I forget what he said, but it had a big effect on me.

No offence taken. Mostly I'm just really embarrassed and feeling pretty stupid!

But it's not like I know you well enough to be able to take such an entry as anything but serious! It's in my nature to take people seriously and give them a bit of credit when they start talking about their beliefs. You don't wanna go messing about with people's beliefs! Although I was surprised to see you acting a teensy bit overzealous, I don't KNOW you very well!

Yeah, it all seemed a little contradictory... but still interesting curse you! I got that you were making fun of yourself but still thought you meant some of what you said.

I simply figured, hoped, that you might actually HAVE some good arguments! I thought to myself 'hmmm, perhaps he can offer a different perspective...'.

SORRY. I'll just go crawl into a hole and die now!

Ok, in seriousness though, you DO call yourself an Atheist? If so, why? Be nice! In serious! I really am curious! :P

Don't be embarassed. Everyone else bought it too, 'cept for Stew. But I've probably talked to him about this stuff before ( ... )

"Whether it's in religion or a satirical livejournal entry, blind faith seems to come far too naturally to the average human. That is why we must exterminate every last one of them... to prove our point of view is superior, or something."
-- Philosopher'ya (aka Sorcerer'ya [from the US editions])

(much like the so-called "happypea", I wrote and deleted a whole variety of things before finally settling on this)
