1) I would probably still end up working with my 'old' team on their events... so if they hate me if I quit that would be very awkward --> meaning no clean cut and new start
I can't see that happening. They work in a bank so they are used to people switching departments all the time - plus they like you, and I think they would only want the best for you. Plus it means they will always get priority service from the events team, right?
As for the "switching jobs" I think it's safe to say in my CV reading experience that if you switch jobs within the same company then it is merely personal development and not you being too thick to stay in one place. It's a very British thing to switch jobs a lot too, apparently - at least it was when I first came to the UK and I thought that was very strange.
Best of luck - I think you should apply and really go for it :)
Absolutely go for it. No one is going to begrudge you trying for new opportunities within the firm. It's kind of the whole point of working for a big company...to get as much experience in different areas as possible.
I think you should go for the new job. It sounds really exciting and you'd be brilliant at it. It doesn't hurt to apply and find out more about it - and you already know how people move about from job to job so quickly in that environment!!
I hope the operation went well for your mum. Make sure she gets lots of rest and doesn't move far from her bed! (it's called a 'hysterectomy' in English, btw) Best wishes to her and I hope she feels much better soon.

Anyway you can apply for the job - it doesn't mean that you have to take it
