So this movie is... pretty special. And kind of ADD. BUT IN AN EPIC WAY, STUPID MOVIE THAT I LOVE. But... as much as I love this movie, I'm kind of closing my eyes, sticking my fingers in my ears and just going "LALALALALALA~ THIS ISN'T HAPPENING LALALALA~" about certain parts of it because, man... this movie really hated on Makino's

Unfortunately there aren't subtitles, but you won't really need them anyway! Still! This is a pretty awesome summary of the movie that's practically a script!

It sounds to me like this is an effort to create the typical romance plotline, which, if I recall, goes something like:
-Couple are falling in love/already in love and happy
-CONFLICT #1!
-Couple overcomes CONFLICT #1 and things look fine!
-THEN WE HAVE CONFLICT #2! Which is a bigger deal than CONFLICT #1 and it looks impossible to recover from.
-CONFLICT #2 is usually resolved in part by misunderstandings getting cleared up, quite often by friends/family of the couple and/or peripheral characters.
-Couple gets a happy ending, usually involving a wedding, twins OR GETTING MARRIED AND THEN HAVING TWINS.

.....So, don't feel bad that Makino's characterisation was sacrificed in order to get the story to fit this plotline XD

Also, that wedding is adorable.

I think I'm freaking out about it a little more than I should just because I really do love her character a lot and they kind of... MASSACRED a lot of what I love about her. Mostly I'm worried it's seeping into my play unconsciously (I've been feeling a little off with her :/) but venting and pointing out the exact points that make me "SKFJSKDGHJSDG" helped a lot :3

The wedding scene is the best thing ever aldskjfadlkgdsg. I love this movie ;o;

I WILL COME BACK WITH MORE COHERENT THOUGHTS LATER...lolcrammingforJapanesequiz...but I just wanted to address a few things really quickly.

The movie really was a rampant character assassination for Makino and Rui, and I think it's perfectly okay to ignore the scenes where the writers were clearly smoking crack.

I DO understand how it might make you inadvertently change your characterization though. I've noticed that I've been doing the same with Domyoji; having him be sweeter instead of more RAWR-y for example. I think the pre-movie hype was clearly pointing to a Domyoji-centric movie though, so I kinda expected that he'd come out smelling like roses.

Haha, I think with all the "STUPID BOYFRIEND/STUPID GIRLFRIEND RAWR"-ing we do in chan, I've gotten pretty damn good at explaining away/defending her "GOD MAKINO" moments from the series XD So ever since the movie I've been trying to do that because I didn't want to dismiss it entirely and was kind of worried that my strong rejection of those scenes is just due to my bias. I swear my love for Makino has at least doubled since I apped her AND I ALREADY LOVED HER A LOT TO BEGIN WITH orz. And I know I've flailed at all four of you going "WRRRRRY MY CHARACTERIZATION" and you've all gone "WE CALL CHARACTER ASSASSINATION!" Which it totally is! But then when I rewatched and re-examined the movie, I started trying to rationalize certain actions and was like "Oh, okay. I guess I can see that happening. I totally overreacted on my first
